Start the day out with an espresso drink in a 12, 16, or 20-ounce size, and come back later to enjoy an alcoholic beverage in the evenings. You can even take a board game off the shelf and play it with some of your friends as you drink your coffee. Kafe Kerouac is open from 8 a.m.-1 a.m. Monday-Friday, from 10 a.m.-1 a.m. Saturdays, and from noon-midnight on Sundays.

Nick and Brad, owners of Scratch, set out to create a menu revolving around the traditional breakfast staple of bacon. After experimenting with ways to cure and smoke pork from scratch, the pair recognized the value of applying their creative approach to the rest of their offerings, which is how the restaurant's name was born. Hence, pancakes were transformed into tiramisu pancakes with coffee liqueur reduction, maple whipped cream, and chocolate ganache, while French toast is made from bread pudding and offered in flavors of blueberry or banana and bourbon caramel. The Red Stable has a history as colorful as its eye-catching exterior. Built in 1872, the building has served as a horse livery, wagon repair shop, ice storage facility, and auto garage over the years. In the late 1950s, when a group formed to save the German Village neighborhood from demolition, local artist Phil Keintz transformed the Red Stable into a custom art studio and gift shop featuring the works of his fellow artists. Phil's tradition continues today, as more than 100 local artists showcase their work inside the historic building. The Red Stable is open noon - 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon - 6 p.m. Friday, noon - 7 p.m. Saturday, and noon - 5 p.m. Sunday.
